Got some Mora knives

Postby dixieangler on Thu Nov 19, 2009 9:05 pm

Hey LDS,

I got three from Ragweed. #911 carbon and #946 stainless as a set. I also got a #780 triflex Craftsman carbon (differential heat treatment on spine and edge) that I gave to a buddy. All purpose belt knives is what I was looking for. Here I thought I would be getting some rinky dink little thin European blades but it was a nice surprise seeing the thicker and wider blades. Really nice knives and Ragweed got the order to me in a timely manner with no problems. You are right, better deal than SMKW on shipping and I haven't seen such a wide variety of Moras on SMKW.

I have never been disapointed with anything I ordered from Ragnor, or any Mora I ever owned. Never felt I did not get more than I paid for, even with the $7 Tradesman. I can't remember Ragnor ever teking more than 4 days to have an order at my doorstep.
OK, what's the other plan!

I ordered two more (a set) that I liked. Military green Clippers, one carbon and one stainless. I don't know why but I just don't like hollow handle knives. Nothing wrong with them I suppose as long as the hollow handles are rigid enough, I just prefer solid handle knives. Maybe its a balance thing so I feel the knife is more balanced with a solid handle. I did like the Craftsman series rather than the Tradesman series.

Clippers are a great knife for the money. It is still hard to beat the standard wooden handled Moras though.

I have the Green handled stainless military issue model, and the green Clipper in stainless. Good knives, but I still prefer the carbon steel blades. Check out the detaile of that ugly plastic sheath on the Clipper too. That slot fits over a coat button perfectly, or it clips on and off the belt easily. Cheap and ugly, but efficient.

Hmm. Well I ordered both the #840 carbon and #860 stainless in the green Clipper.

From the web page (links):

Carbon
#840-MG; it's also available with a military green sheath and trim for $12.

Stainless
#860-MG; It’s also available with a military green sheath and trim for $13.
