Surviving off-line

Postby LDS on Sat Oct 17, 2009 8:55 am

I know this will be bumped to the Miscelanious section, and i would have put it there except there is no way to post new threads there.

I just wanted to tel you huys I am moving to the retreat this weekend. I have no internet service out there yet so I will be on-line less frequently than in the past. I will hit the library every few days to touch base.

I have moved a 27' self contained RV on site, so I am not exactly living in a cave. I have water, electric and a backup generator along with the propane appliances in the RV. I will be digging out the old solar pannels and hooking up the 12v backup too. Kitchen, bath w/shower small living room space and area to sleep 6.

Over the next few months I will be gutting the house and completely rebuilding. Lots of work, and winter is setting in.

Normally I would love facing this challenge, but this time I have fought depression and sorrow. My wife would have loved this place, and she would have loved rebuilding it with me.

I'll talk to you guys in a few days.

Thanks for the support,

LDS

Now I'll only have dixieangler left to answer my strange questions i'll be really screwed if dixie doesnt have internet for awhile either! You guys are like a database of wilderness knowledge for me :D(although JeC has been posting more frequently he can be helpful). It's going to be rough rebuilding that house with winter coming and I have a bad feeling its gonna be a cold winter. I hate having to do minor plumbing jobs and electric work I can't even imagine doing the job your about to tackle. It sounds like its worth the trouble good luck LDS.

Well, if Dixie's server goes down you're on your own for a while. It has happened before for a few days or about a week. Or an emergency. Go back to your books, DVDs, and videos and research it. Then do it by trial and error until you get it. Or go ask John McPherson. LOL

Good luck and work safe, LDS. Keep us updated on your progress when you can.

thats what I had to do before I used this forum and it took alot longer. Half the time you guys give me better info than some of my books. LOL yea if you and LDS were off this forum I'd be frequently posting on the prarie wolf forum although I've actually found John Mcpheresons book very useful. Oh and LDS you should post pics or something of your project.
