coyote hat

Postby coon4492 on Sat Oct 24, 2009 8:04 pm

Todays opening day for raccoon hunting in pennsylvania and I'm eager to replace my old coon hat which I lost awhile back with a new one. It also got me thinking of another hat I've wanted for the winter a coyote hat. They look really warm and as an added bonus they scare vegetarians :D. I'd like to have one for the really cold months of winter. Are there any skilled coyote hunters on the forum willing to sell me a pelt? I'd do it myself but I'm not that great at hunting coyotes. I did some searching on the web to buy one off line but most of them were way overpriced for a coyote pelt. I'd appreciate any help I can get in finding a good coyote hat for the winter.

I did not know coyotes wore hats!

Why don't you follow one around until he takes his off and grab it and run.
OK, what's the other plan!

I was going to say something about that but I figured LDS would if I didn't. I was right. LOL

Next time, Joe, say coon skin hat or coyote skin hat.

Coon, I just could not pass up the comeback, now for some actual info.

if you go to one of the buckskinning forums they will have a for sale section where you can probably buy all the coyote skins you want. Try the muzzleloading forum
muzzloading magazine forum
frontierfolk.net
Kentucky leather sometimes has yote furs. they hve a website.
or you could probably just google in hides and furs for sale and get a million hits

If all else fails go to the Regweed website and hit his links. he has links for everything. You can hit him through ragweed forge where you get the good Mora knives so cheap.

We have never had coyotes in FL that I can ever recall so if we have them now, they have moved into the state from elsewhere. I have not seen any yet. I know we have a lot of feral dogs and some folks might take those for coyotes. We do have plenty of raccoons though. I don't like to mess with coons or possums and the rabies they carry (unless I have to). LDS is right, go to any fur or hide skin dealer to get a coyote skin or coon skin. Lot easier than trying to hunt them unless you want to.
