Hunting - Slings

Slings by Doc

Doc holding several slings he has made.
Note that one end of the sling has a loop and the other a knot.

You operate the sling by slipping the loop over a finger of one hand. The knotted end is held in the same hand. A projectile is placed in the pocket (netted part). The entire sling (with projectile) is whirled around and around, horizontally. At the right moment (which you learn after a lot of practice!) you release the knotted end and the projectile flies with great speed towards your intended target.

Another sling, made entirely of netting.

Again, note the loop at one end, and the knotted cord at the other end.

Another sling, this one with a cord made of 3-strand reverse wrap cordage.

Doc uses these sling netting needles to make his netted slings. He made these tools himself.
